Basketry NSW Inc. are delighted to invite you to a presentation by Mr Ian McDonald on copyright issues for artists.

Before joining Simpsons, Ian worked for many years at the Australian Copyright Council. He has published widely on copyright and moral rights issues and also lectures at the College of Fine Arts (now UNSW Art + Design) in cultural property, ethics and law.
This is an information session suitable for all artists and crafts people who are interested in exhibiting and/or selling their work. It will also be helpful to teachers and students of design, art or textiles.

Some of the topics to be discussed include:

• Copyright Issues arising for artists
• Using text, poetry, lyrics etc in artworks
• Using purchased stencils, stamps or images in collaged or mixed media pieces
• Using photographs and image transfer techniques in artwork
Appropriation, what is and is not considered to be appropriation and when does it become a copyright issue?
• Responsibility of the artist
• Responsibility of the organisation hosting an exhibition
• Using work developed in workshops for exhibition or sale
• Intellectual property of tutor workshop content
This will be a great talk for all and we hope to see you there.
