Workshop15.5: Jet James - Experimental collagraphs
In this workshop you will be exploring the technique of collagraphy which is under the umbrella of printmaking. We will combine techniques such as etching, lino carving, collage and incorporating added materials onto a plate while developing our designs. Participants will make a plate and print in an intaglio process which involves rubbing ink into the plate and polishing it back then printing onto paper using an etching press.
This is an experimental workshop with the focus being on using found materials and also incorporating plastic plates, tapes and other materials to create a range of visual, textural and design effects.

Jet James is a talented printmaker. He showed a gift for art at a very young age, was an orphan at eight and was gaining recognition for his creativity through awards at a state level by the age of fifteen. Now aged twenty-nine, the Yeppoon based Queensland artist continues to throw himself into his art. Continuing to be experimental and enjoying the inspiration that the local area offers, Jet has been shortlisted by the National Portrait Gallery of Australia in its Youth Self Portrait Prize. He has continued to win significant awards regionally and nationally, with his most recent win being in the Oak Hill Annual Printmaking Award in Melbourne. In his short life he has overcome much adversity. His work is inspired by life and finding a relationship with his environment.
