Craft and Quilt Fair, Glebe Island

Are you going to this year's Craft and Quilt Fair at Glebe Island in Sydney?
It's on soon - June 17 - 21!
If you went along last year, you'll know the venue is so light and airy compared to the old one at Darling Harbour (which was especially wonderful for the quilt display).

This year ATASDA is again running its very popular free demonstrations of a number of fabulous textile art techniques. The way the craft fairs seem to be going these days, there are loads of incredible demonstrations on offer, so to help you plan your busy schedule of inspiration this year, you might like to add some of ATASDA's demos to your plan.
If you're already on the mailing list for this fair, you'll have received the Craft Fair Friend in the mail, and can see our ATASDA demo listing on page 17.
For those without this booklet, here's the rundown of ATASDA's demos:

Wednesday -
  • 10am: shibori with indigo
  • 12 noon: flower and feather trims
  • 2pm: goldwork embroidery + fun with seed beads (two separate demos at 2pm)

Thursday -
  • 10am: making Dorset buttons + working with wire to make jewellery incorporating seed pods (2 demos)
  • 12 noon: making books
  • 2pm: felted flowers

Friday -
  • 10am: mixed media collage
  • 12 noon: embellishing with paint sticks and Inktense pencils
  • 2pm: amazing surface design techniques using items from your home
Saturday -
  • 10am: felted ropes and flowers
  • 12 noon: deconstructed screen printing
  • 2pm: hand stitching mini quilts and embellished felt squares
Sunday -
  • 10am: fabric scraps - twisted twine 1
  • 2 noon: embellishing with paint sticks and Inktense pencils
  • 2pm: mixed media collage
Sounds great, doesn't it?!

ATASDA will also have an amazing display titled Rhapsody in Blues. Come along and enjoy our eclectic display of artworks made to this theme, some in 2D, others in 3D, all in calming blues... :)

For more info on the fair, including lots of info on how to get there, see the fair's website.

They will once again have the free ferries to the fair from Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. Very nice chance to cruise there and back!

See you there!
