A note from Janet De Boer: Greetings! I hope you may want to consider entering the Alice Springs Wearable Art Awards this year or – if that’s not possible – perhaps you can help distribute this information via your social networking and contacts. They would love to have a lot of vibrant entries and I’ve offered to help out. Here are some details.
The ALICE SPRINGS Wearable Art Awards 2015 will be held on 24th October and entries are now open. Established in 2002, the Awards have rapidly grown from the initial venue on the Alice Springs Town Council lawns to sell out shows in the Araluen theatre within the Araluen Cultural Precinct. The event harnesses participation from community groups, textile designers, creators and artists, in turn attracting valued support from partners, volunteers and sponsors as well as media, business and enthusiastic audience support. Works are acquired and the collection is on rotating exhibition at the Brian Tucker Wearable Art Gallery, Araluen Theatre Foyer

Glen Woodward, the hardworking Events Manager has been in regular touch with me (details below) and says: “With regard to the cutoff date I have not set one as such. Delivery of entries (outfits) is the Monday (19th Oct) before the event on the Saturday (24th Oct).
I was brought into the project late June and my main concern has always been the short lead time available to the designers. It still is.
Therefore I don’t want to put any further restrictions on entry.
If someone can make the delivery deadline then as far as I’m concerned they are in the parade and we would make them feel very welcome.”
