Exhibition: Elements - ATASDA South Group

ATASDA South Group is presenting their first exhibition Elements
Saturday and Sunday 29th & 30th August
Old Courthouse
cnr Cliff Rd and Harbour St

9am to 4pm.

The Old Courthouse is opposite beautiful Wollongong Harbour with its many eateries, picnic area and wonderful harbour board walk.

Shirlene, the Group convenor, says, "The exhibition has some unique items to view and/or purchase and the theme of ”Elements” has been interpreted in many different ways. Many artists depict the elements in nature’s landscapes and the oceans rise and fall, or use natural phenomena to create art work with techniques such as rust dyeing."

"We have wall hangings, encaustic art, wearable art, elements of shibori, rust dyed and eco printed shrugs, a group challenge on the elements of design, rust dyed scarves, and silk hand painted scarves. One silk scarf is seemingly etched with the names of the elements."

"We have surface design, wire sculptural jewellery, some unbelievable art quilts by recognised artist Dale Robson with endangered species peeping out from trees or a myriad of little collaged animals all sitting at a tea party and, from Denise Sargo, a full size fantasy book quilt to turn the page over and see fairies and naughty elves hidden in the branches of trees in an enchanted forest."

"The Elements of India are depicted in beautiful colours and goldwork. You have to see how the elements of Winter are interpreted in tea bag art or see remarkable hand dyed silk Kimono creation, embroidered and embellished with the chemical symbol for each element (all 118 of them!) organized on the basis of their atomic number and chemical properties, and artistically linked in colour coded scientific order."

Dale Robson’s wonderful Tea Party uses the technique of fabric collage, onto which she adds embellishments and enhances the colours by painting and pencil work.

 See you there!
