There's still time to see the works from the 2015 Emerging Artist Craft Awards at Craft NSW - this exhibition runs for another week, until October 11. These may be emerging artists but the images on the gallery Facebook page indicate that they're already producing striking and confident works.
And that's in addition to the usual beautiful work from their stable of member craftmakers. You have lots of opportunity - the gallery is open 9.30-5.30, seven days a week! More info about this and other activities at CraftNSW here on their website.
Meanwhile, Gosford Regional Gallery has been displaying works from the Gosford Art Prize and how very interesting they are! My favourites were a linocut by Rew Hanks called A Touch of Home, which won Second Prize, and a Highly Commended drawing by Dana Dion, Industry and Nature. The quirky Stuff Meeting by Keiko Matsui, a collection of very individual bird figures, is also appealing. The Prize works will be on display until Nov 29.
More information at the Gallery website and you can see images on the gallery Facebook page.
Tweed Regional Gallery currently has an exhibition of prints by David Preston. He's a rare printmaker who doesn't use a press - encouraging, for those of us who don't own presses, to see just what can be achieved by burnishing with a wooden spoon! This exhibition closes on Nov 22 but make sure you call in for a look if you're up that way. More information on their website.
